Angie Garcia-Hughes
Biography
Angie Garcia-Hughes was born and raised in El Paso, TX. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art and an MLIS in Library and Information Science, both from the University of Texas at Austin.
Angie began her library career at the El Paso Public Library, where she served in various roles. She went on to work for the Department of the Army as a Systems/Reference Librarian and later as Director of the US Army Sergeants Major Academy Learning Resources Center. She retired from federal service after 32 years as an Army civilian serving at White Sands Missile Range, NM, and Fort Bliss, TX. She has also held an Adjunct Librarian position at El Paso Community College since the start of her career. Angie joined the NMSU Library as Department Head of Access Services in November 2025.
Her research interests include art, Mexican culture, military history, productivity, time management, and fair use.
